Employee Spotlight: Melody Arunga

Pacific Crest Savings Bank Senior Credit Analyst Melody Arunga brings a passion for helping small business owners secure loans through her work in commercial lending. With over 20 years in the industry, she began her career in retail lending, transitioning to commercial after 10 years, eager for the opportunity to expand her knowledge and experience.

As Pacific Crest Savings Bank’s Senior Credit Analyst, Melody works closely with the commercial lending team to analyze borrowers’ creditworthiness, with the goal of helping clients secure favorable terms that help their businesses grow. She credits her work in retail lending and knack for customer service for her ability to find solutions for borrowers, no matter the complexity of the loan. “I love what I do because every client is different and unique challenges arise. It’s a passion of mine to help small business owners, and I enjoy the impact I’m able to have on our community through this work,” she says.

Melody was drawn to Pacific Crest because of the bank’s charitable work and the longevity of many team members’ careers at the bank. She’s always preferred working at smaller institutions where local decision-making helps to have a direct impact on the surrounding community.

She was born and raised in Kenya, before attending college in Michigan and, later in her career, Melody moved to Washington to be near family. In her free time, she enjoys singing and dancing – especially Zumba! With a group of supportive friends and family, she’s been exploring the region through short hikes throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Fun Facts:

Have you ever met a celebrity? Yes! In college, I worked part time at McDonald’s in the Michigan town where Muhammad Ali owned a home. He’d come through the drive-thru like any ol’ Joe, and we’d serve him for free.

What’s something on your bucket list? My family is scattered across the United States, as well as Europe and Kenya – I’d love to travel somewhere tropical and have a big family reunion with everyone!
